So Far in 2009.....

1/1/09:

12:30 p.m. - Arrive at Emergency Room with The Geet who has not eaten much of anything since Sunday, 12/28.
4:30 p.m. - The Geet is admitted to the hospital for dehydration, pneumonia and potassium depletion.
6:30 p.m. - We pick up our children who have been with friends for 6 hours, take them to eat and go home.

1/2/09:

8:00 a.m. - Arrive at hospital to meet with doctor (who arrives at 10:30 a.m.). Adjustment of The Geet's meds is in progress to try to make her more comfortable and increase her appetite.
11:30 a.m. - I return home to see my family and take a nap.
2:30 p.m. - Return to the hospital and stay until I think The Geet has fallen asleep at 7:30 p.m.

1/3/09:

1:00 a.m. - Go to bed after working on my (procrastinated) Ethiopia Reads Power Point presentation.
3:25 a.m. - Phone rings. Wrong number. Nice.
6:00 a.m. - Phone rings. Hospital calling. There is a very tired and frustrated-sounding male nurse on the line explaining that The Geet is asking for me. She has been up all night - again - and is very agitated and delusional. She thinks the staff are infiltrates and have some sort of conspiracy against her. This would make a great movie.
6:30 a.m. - I arrive at the hospital, hear about The Geet's terrible night, apologize to Nate the Nurse, jokingly call him a Poser and The Geet immediately falls asleep upon seeing me.
8:00 a.m. - My parents arrive to speak with the Doctor, who apparently does her rounds at 8:00 a.m.
11:00 a.m. - The Doctor - who is very smart, but could loosen up a bit - arrives and we tell her that The Geet was up all night, was not given the Ambien like we requested, is worse off than she was when she arrived at the hospital and request that she be allowed to sleep for as long as she wants.
1:30 p.m. - The Geet slowly begins to wake up, but refuses her lunch. Reluctantly allows two nurses to take her to the bathroom.
2:00 p.m. - A nurse arrives to determine if The Geet is eligible for Hospice.
2:30 p.m. - I leave the hospital and arrive at the ice rink to watch my children and that guy I live with ice skating.
3:30 p.m. - Drive home in a blizzard, look at the mail, write this blog entry and prepare to take a nap.

2009 is not starting out so good.

Just got caught up -- you must be running on E. Take care of yourself. If we can be of any help, remember, we're just a bog away (-:

You must be exhausted. Hope you remember to take care of yourself in between the Geet, the kids and and power point presentations. If the Geet isnt eligible for hospice who the heck is?

Thinking of you.

Well it took me forever to figure out who "the saint" was. Now that I realize I referred to you as "a saint" in my post about THE Diarrhea, I am enlightened! You are "A Saint" with "The Diarrhea" and "The Bloody Noses"! Too bad you are now out of "A Job"....
